Craftsmen have always stuck together. From the Middle Ages onwards, butchers joined together and organized, bakers had their own guild, and boilermakers, tailors, carpenters, confectioners ... everyone had their own guild – today we would call them specialized chambers of commerce. They protected the craftsmen, regulated apprenticeships and set prices, fair measures, quality.
